I’m Amélie, nice to meet you! I’ve been a professional illustrator for a little over a decade, but art and picture books have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Like many children, I started by redecorating my bedroom walls—then graduated to my parents’ furniture and every item of clothing I owned. After it was firmly established that paper was the only acceptable surface for drawing, I spent hours perfecting my favourite Disney characters, with a particular obsession for Ariel’s fringe and Belle’s layered ball gown. In junior high, I quickly became my English teacher’s least favourite student by omitting to stick to blue pencils on exams, and nearly drove another teacher to the edge by customising all my stationery in study skills class.
Naturally, my love for art led me to pursue it as a career. In college, I was exposed to a wide range of creative skills, from photography to typography and beyond. After graduating, I worked as a graphic designer, an art director, and briefly as a bookseller—an experience that reignited my early passion for picture books. This journey has since led me to illustrate around 40 picture books in French, English, and even Korean, as well as create artwork for magazines and board games. One of my favourite projects was designing and painting signage for a hospital, transforming its walls into an engaging visual experience.
Today, I live with my boyfriend and my cat, Chichi, in a house nestled in rolling hills, surrounded by sheep, cows, farm dogs, and plenty of birds. The changing seasons shape my mood and creative flow, with Autumn and Winter—along with their many celebrations—providing the most inspiration. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me curled up with a good book or immersed in a video game. I’m very much a content house cat. Whenever I’m able to treat myself, I love heading to the city—whether it’s London, Paris, or somewhere new—to stroll through the streets, linger in cosy cafés, wander through every bookstore I pass, and indulge in some delicious food along the way.
